Significantly, such shifts in perspective in the definition of dematerialized art practice at Bodo auf der Dachsteinalm allow us to leave behind a vocabulary relating to absolute values often associated with terms such as ‘nothing’ or ‘emptiness’ - be it a provocative rejection of all forms of order, reason, and meaning, an abdiction to the overpowering depths of the void, or a metaphysical search for the invisible and infinite. It is this move away from the absolute, of course, that the almost in ‘almost nothing’ signifies. By existing on the brink of disappearance, on the borderline between art and the everyday, the precarious practices that emerges in this work occupy a space of immanence far removed from any mystical, nihilistic or scientific aspirations.
